The Faster The Communication…

So, we are now fully aware of the benefits of Twitter – keep friends (and others) up to date with exactly what you are doing – it’s so fast, it makes social networking seem so old. However, the first clickjacking has now happened and you can be sure it won’t be the last. This first one is just annoying, the next one (or ten or hundred) will undoubtedly be more malevolent.
The speed that the problem spread across the Twitterverse was proportional to the speed and ease of use. In the good old days of viruses, it took the time for the user to read the email and then to open the attachment before it started to propagate. With Twitter it all happens in the blink of an eye… it reminds me of the Flash Crowdproblems that Larry Niven wrote about a three decades ago. The solution back then was to be able to shut-down the network to prevent the problem escalating – perhaps something similar needs to be developed for clickjacking today?
