John Turner

John Turner is Vice President for the Symantec Pre-Sales and Sales Specialist Organization, the business-technology sales arm for Symantec’s $2B EMEA commercial business.

John has mostly focused on high growth businesses. In 2004, he joined VERITAS as Senior Director, Western U.S. Emerging Solutions.  The business grew over 500% via organic growth and acquisitions. Prior to joining VERITAS, John was Vice President of Sales for Gartner CIO Programs, Gartner’s fastest growing business. 

He started with Gartner in 1998 and held roles as Vice President, Worldwide Sales Operations, Area Sales Manager – led the top ranked sales team globally, and Sales Representative – ranked in top 10 of Gartner’s 800 strong worldwide salesforce. 

Prior to entering the technology industry, he spent seven years in the financial services industry. His last role was working with private banking clients for Chase Manhattan Bank in Silicon Valley.

John received a Bachelor of Science degree from Santa Clara University in Marketing with a minor in International Relations.  He was a four-year “walk on” with their Division One Basketball team.  He earned his MBA from San Jose State University and completed a certificate in Negotiation and Influence Strategies from the Stanford Business School.

He is a student of international relations and is a member of the World Affairs Council and Chatham House.John is married to Amy and has two sons, Zachary and William. They live in Ascot, UK.
